1940's Vintage Chic

Some of you may have noticed that I lovingly refer to my husband on here as Handsome Husband {and it's true he is very good looking!!}, but he could just as easily have been referred to as Smarty-Pants Husband because, ladies, this guy is a clever cat! Our whole reason for being in the UK {besides teaching me long suffering regarding weather conditions} is so that Mr. Smarty-Pants himself can get his PhD in History. And while some of you may not know me well enough to know this yet, let me make it abundantly clear... I DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT HISTORY! Me and the hubs are pretty much chalk and cheese when it comes to our interests, but in the name of spousal unity I agreed to sit down and watch Band of Brothers with old HH a couple months ago, and you know what? I loved it! Such good character development and plot lines, I think I must have cried at least every episode! I was so sad when the mini-series ended, but now we've just started watching The Pacific and I'm loving these characters just as much! Last night's episode continued my weeping streak with the marriage of  Lena Riggi to Sgt. John Basilone and then Sgt. John's almost immediate death...I know right, this is what I mean by tears! Any ways, long after the episode ended, I was still giddy over their pretty 1940's style wedding, and HH suggested I do a little bloggin' about it today{probably hoping it would save him from having to listen to me go on and on about fur stoles and perfectly red lips!} So, here you are my little chic{k}adees--Vintage Chic inspired weddings and engagement shoots at their best! These are some of my favourites and I've included all their original links, so you can go check them out in full!

Hope you all enjoyed this little ode to The Pacific and maybe even picked up some vintage ideas for your own wedding!  Make sure to drop back in tomorrow for my favourite weddings of the week!

uniquely yours,

Jillian Nicole

P.S.  If you're really in need of a good cry, grab your tissues and head on over here to read about the real Basilone couple.  After John died, Lena never remarried and was still wearing her wedding ring from him when she passed away fifty-four years later!  Such a hauntingly, beautiful love story, huh!?
