HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh my, I have not been here in a while, huh? Things have been so busy around here lately and this poor, little blog just fell by the wayside! But, I'm back now and I thought we'd jump right in with a smoothie that I'm LOV-ING right now!
I'm not a super big fan of veggies and I honestly really struggle with eating them, so when I saw Kimberly Snyder's Green Smoothie recipe on Pinterest, which contains 3 cups of leafy veggies in every serving, I thought it might be a good way to get my green on! And, seriously, oh my gosh, it's so yummy! Obviously, it's not like drinking that pretty, peach smoothie, but it's the best, yummiest way I've found of eating my veggies! I've only been drinking it for a week, but yesterday I skipped it and was really surprised to find that I noticed a difference! I was more sluggish and my "digestion" *ahem* was definitely lacking! It calls for a lot of organic ingredients, and I'm not a nutritionist by any stretch of the imagination, but I can't imagine it makes that much of a difference {foodies, please correct me if I'm wrong!}, so I just use the regular old stuff.
So, if there are any veggie haters out there, I'd definitely recommend you give this a try! And let me know what you think! And if you have any delicious, smoothie recipes leave them in the comments below!
xoxo

I don't know of any specific nutritional value to organic over "regular", (I'd think local/shorter distance from picking to your mouth would offer more nutrients.) but the biggest perk for organic is that it has less toxins and pesticides. The toxins are more of an issue for thin-skinned foods that you eat the skin of (potatoes, berries, etc) and leafy foods, that you obviously eat the outsides of- lettuce, spinach, broccoli, etc. The idea is that the thin-skin absorbs more of the toxins that even washing won't get off. Like any food trend, this has its supporters and detractors- it is just as important to wash organic, though, because of the higher risk of e. coli. Just sayin'. :)
ReplyDeleteOh there are some great recipes and I love green smoothies. They are fabulous and over time will give you a glow provided that is you are eating healthy. I would personally go organic less toxins and more nutritional value btw it is even better if you can go grow your own ... xx
