A Good Day

{via}
Today has been a crazy day.  So much going on--all of it good--all of it a lot.  Handsome Husband was just {officially} accepted to do his PhD, I've just received some absolutely fab news{not fit to print yet}, and  basically we're both just over the moon about our lives, our marriage, and the place that God has us in at the  moment!  It's been a good day, and we're off to celebrate it!:)
P.S. How gorgeous is this cake? I'm obsessed--if I could craft our day out of flour and sugar this is what it would look like!:)

Oscars Fashion Recap

Angelina Jolie
Milla Jovovich
Michelle Williams
Octavia Spencer
Even with that crazy stance, I thought Angelina totally hit it out of the park! And of course, Michelle Williams can really do no wrong in my book--she's sweet and sophisticated all at the same time!  Loving the bling that Octavia and Milla wore so well--would love to see a bride go ultra-glam in a beaded, white dress like Milla's!

Tell me, chickadees, what was your favourite frock from last night?

What I {Wish I} Wore Wednesday: Oscars Edition

Bracelet // Gown // Earrings  // Mascara // Eyelashes // Lipstick // Nail Polish // TOMS

I am beyond excited that the Oscars are right around the corner!  I always love seeing the dresses and some of the interviews on the red carpet are too funny--for people that spend their whole lives in front of the camera, they sure know how to bring the awkward!  After being introduced to this gorgeous new designer on Lovely Little Details, I knew this would be my look for Oscar night!  I love the drama of the red and would keep the classic look going with big, black eyelashes and red lips and nails!  And I've always thought if I were going to some crazy, glam party and wearing a floor-length dress, I would totally just throw on flats and be super comfy! Plus they're glittery so that's just way fun!:)

Tell me, sweets, what's your dream, Oscar-night look?

Black and White and Classic All Over

Cake // Champagne Cups // Bow Tie // Centrepiece // Gorgeous Calligraphy

As much as I love the sweetness of vintage and the boldness of modern weddings, nothing sucks me in more than an all out classic, black tie, gatsby-esque affair!  Traditional never goes out of style and is guaranteed to look oh-so-good even for years to come!  What's your favourite wedding style, my dears?

Baby on the Way!

Good Morning, bloggity bloggers!  So, I don't think I've shared on here yet, but my sister-in-law is pregnant! Yay! I'm so excited to be an aunt, and even more excited to see HH around a baby! Haha!:)  HH's side of the family is fairly international, so we don't get to see them as much as we'd like, but they're coming to visit in April and I get to throw her a baby shower!  Of course I'm like uber excited and already have a theme in mind  and blah, blah, blah, but I've never thrown a Baby Shower before, so I've been checking out Hostess with the Mostess for inspiration--seriously such a fun site!  And, oh my goodness, did I stumble across some cuties, or what?!!

Krista Mason Photography via Hostess with the Mostess
This Velveteen Rabbit Baby Shower is probably my favourite ever!! Loved the book as a child and loving all the details that went into this darling shower!

Jenn and Sonny Sbranti via Hostess with the Mostess
Okay, so how many of you loved Goodnight Moon--we still have it somewhere back at home and I can't wait to read it to my own little, lovebug someday! This baby shower is so sweet and I love, love, love all the bright, fun details!

And then, I ran across this:

Carrie Sellman of Half Baked via Hostess with the Mostess
It's called a Sip and See and I was like, "What the heck is that?" Do people come over and like watch your baby on the monitor, or even worse, watch you give birth? Um, no...apparently a Sip and See is a shower that happens after the baby is brought home and guests get to come over and eat a little cake and meet your new bundle of joy!

I'm even more excited to get started on the planning now, and can't wait to see how everything turns out!  Do you lovelies have any Baby Shower tips or games that you love to play?  I'm pretty sure I've decided on a theme, but let me know if you guys have any other good ideas!:)

Happy Monday!

Rustic, Fall Inspiration Shoot

Oh my goodness, lovelies, do I have a treat for you!  This gorgeous Inspiration Shoot was submitted by the lovely Meghan Christine and it's jam packed full of pretty, fall gorgeousness!  I met Meghan when were both part of a little, blog party hosted by Emilee Sutherland of Tasteful Tatters and I just fell in love with her photography!  So when she sent me this beauty, I was so excited to share it all with you!  I love the unexpected pops of blue and oh my goodness, can you even get over how darling this real-life couple is!??

I'll let Meghan take it from here and tell you a  little about the shoot:  "The inspiration behind the shoot? Fall, Fall, Fall! So many of us adore the shifting change in season from summer to Fall. As much as we love the flip-flop, beach season...there is something special that happens when Autumn arrives. That unique feeling is what I was inspired to capture in designing this shoot. Of course, there in the obvious change in color all around us, but it's so much more than that. Cozy hugs with our loved ones, pumpkins, jumping in a pile of leaves, homemade pies, and rustic country furniture are a few of the features that we focused on to give the shoot it's intimate, family feel."

From florist Lindsay Schimdt of Petalicious - "I was really inspired by the color palette. It reminded me of Autumn, but in a vintage chic way. I used browns and golds as the classic Autumn colors, accented with peach/creams, and used the blue for it's pop."

From stylist Emilee Hegg of Tasteful Tatters - "I chose lighter tones of wood pieces for the dinner setting - so match the lace and the fun ivory vases from Petalicious's florals. Even though they were light, they still had that rustic fall appeal to them, especially paired w/ the yellows and oranges from the paper products and the florals. For the "extra" settings i.e. communion and dessert areas - I chose darker woods to showcase The Vintage Table's plates and make them pop blending the fall colors with the dark brown. Also, the birdcages were added to help tie in the bird elements we added. Overall, I think they all worked great together and the tea tray was my absolute favorite for the desserts! So pretty and formal - yet just rustic enough."

What I {Wish I} Wore Wednesday: Vacation Dreams

Happy Wednesday, my dears!  I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day--I'm still in a bit of a truffle induced coma, but it's actually quite a nice place to be, so I'm not complaining!  With all the cute Spring clothes coming out, it's hard not to daydream about those mid-year vacations!  And I'm so jealous of my friends that seem to be taking them now--one of them just left for the Maldives!!  So, since HH and I have absolutely, zero plans for a warm and sandy holiday any time soon, I thought I could at least create a couple of vacation dream outfits!

Cover-up/Bikini/Sunglasses/Hair Ties/Water Bottle/Sandals/Beach Bag

Clutch/Maxi Dress/Lip Gloss/Mascara/Bangles/Sandals

I just love that feeling of being on vacation and knowing that all you need to put on for dinner is a pretty sundress, swipe of mascara, and a bit of lip gloss--heaven!  Any of you lovelies have vacations planned?  Any favourite destinations that you keep going back to?  I'm dreaming of Mexico, but there are so many other gorgeous, beach destinations--what are your favourites!?

Happy Day-Dreaming!

Tea Party

So sorry, my dears, I hope you can forgive little 'ol me for this super late post!  Not much going on this weekend except for a tea party with a very sweet neighbour--sadly though the first neighbour {lovely, Betty} couldn't make it after all because she had a bit of a fall and had to go in to the hospital {nothing to worry about though, she's a-okay!}, so her sweet brother, Lionel, joined me instead!  We had fun chatting about how much things have changed in the 70 years that he's lived in this building and how he's a bit sad that his sister is moving out into a retirement home {our building has way too many stairs!}.  Here's a peek at our little, tea party {and yes, we do have yellow walls and a purple couch--don't judge!}:)

Hope you all had a lovely weekend as well!  Tell me what you got up to in the comments!:)

Happy Monday, Chickadees!

Friday Favourites

Goodness, I can't believe it's already Friday!  Does it feel like the week went by fast to anyone else???  There were some AMAZING weddings floating around the blogosphere this week {did any of you happen to catch this one on Snippet and Ink? That tiny, white Chapel totally stole my heart!}, but since we're wrapping up our week of L-O-V-E, I thought I'd share with you my very favourite Valentine's Inspiration Shoot from the lovely Lindye Galloway!

Mark Brooke Photographers via The Wedding Chicks

That backdrop is just darling and I love how easy it would be to recreate!  Make sure to drop by and check out the whole shoot here!  There's a sparkly red dress involved that needs to find it's way into my closet!

Pretty, Little Tea Parties

Woohoo!  One more day till Friday--and then the weekend!:)  And I'm so excited because this weekend I'm having a little tea party with one of my neighbours! {If you missed that story you can catch up here!}  And since we're having our get together the Saturday before Valentine's Day, I thought I'd make it {yep you guessed it!} a Valentine's Tea Party!  So, naturally I've been on Pinterest {I have no idea what I did before this little gem of a site and if you need an invite just email me!} trying to come up with some cute, heart shaped cookie recipes and I've stumbled across some gorgeous tea parties that I just had to share with you all!  They may be a little over the top for my two-person tea party, but how cute would they be for a Bridal/Baby Shower--or even just a get together with the girls!
