Friday Favourites

Rebecca Wedding Photography via 100 Layer Cake

This is one of those weddings where you wish an invitation had somehow been lost in the mail and magically appeared in your mailbox!  The venue is obviously gorgeous {would you really expect any less from Italy?}, and you only have to scroll through the feature on 100 Layer Cake to see that this is one family that knows how to have a good time!

So, while you lovelies head over to check out all the pretty, I'm off to enjoy what's left of this gorgeous sunshine...apparently, we're supposed to get snow next week!  Oh, the joys of living in the UK--it can never make up its mind!

xoxo,

Jillian Nicole

P.S. I'm also linking up with Alison over at Long Distance Loving for Friday's Fancies, so be sure to stop by and check out all the cute ideas for Spring Showers!:)

Designed by Emily Ley

Of all the quotes and catchy phrases flying around Pinterest and the web, I think this one might be my favourite. Not only do I love the sentiment, but the whole thing is just so visually appealing--the colour, font, design--it's all so pretty!  Designed by one of my favourite stationers {is that even a word?}, Emily Ley, this print is one that every woman should find a place for in her home!

What are some of your favourite quotes or prints? I'd love to hear!:)

Baby Shower Monday: Gingham Bunting

This past weekend was so fun!  It's been gloriously, sunshine-y up here in Scotland and HH and I have been taking full advantage of it!  Saturday we ran errands, caught up on a little New Girl, and just generally enjoyed hanging out without the heat and a thousand layers on.  And then on Sunday, I met up with Cara, Nye, and their absolutely darling kiddos {of Lillian and Leonard Photography} for a styled Bridal shoot featuring the gorgeous, Megan of Across the Pond {and yes, she and Stephen are just as adorable in person as they are via the web!}! We spent the day shooting in Greenbank Gardens and playing with the amazing balloon from BonBon Balloons--the twins loved them!  All in all, it was the perfect way to kick off Spring!

And for Baby Shower Monday, I thought I'd share with you what my MIL has been crafting for the shower--cute, huh?!  I'm terrible with a needle and thread--in fact my very lovely, and very pregnant, sister-in-law gave me a bunting kit a few years back for Christmas, and it's still not done! So this cute decor piece was regulated to my MIL, who I knew would actually get it done in time!

What did everyone else get up to this weekend?  Is the sun shining where you are???

Anthropologie Dilemma

Okay, guys, I seriously need your help! Last week, BlogMilk gave away $100 to Anthropologie to celebrate the launch of their new collection {by the way, they're amazing blog designers, so if you're looking around, definitely check them out!} and crazily enough--I won!  Obviously as soon as I found out, I jumped on Anthropologie and got to browsing!  But now I'm stuck! So many cute things and I just can't pick a favourite!

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5

I keep going back and forth and back and forth, so I'm leaving it up to you!

What do you guys think???

School of Rock {N Roll Bride}

Shell de Mar Photography via Rock N' Roll Bride

Good morning, lovelies!! It's a bright and early one over at our house!  In a few hours time, I'll be on a train, headed down to Sheffield, to meet one of my favourite wedding bloggers and hear how she does it all--and by all, I mean run one of the most successful UK wedding blogs, pose in super fun photoshoots {see them here and here}, travel around the country meeting up with fellow bloggers, and still have time to breathe!  I'm beyond excited to meet her, and her husband Gareth, and hopefully bring back tons of tips and tricks to help make this little, blog even better!:)  But first things first, when it's this early, I need me some coffeeeeeee!!!!:)

I also wanted to send huge hugs to all of you--your comments all over the web yesterday, meant the absolute world to me, and were so encouraging!  So, thank you from the bottom of my heart!  I'll be back tomorrow to give you the full dish on how it all went down! And if you missed yesterday's SMP feature, you can check it out here!:)

Good Morning, Lovelies! Hope you all had such a wonderful weekend! Mine was spent shopping for our shoot this coming Sunday and a gorgeous site visit in Glasgow!  Also on Friday, HH and I spent a fun night in with a bucket full of buttons and a hot glue gun--making placecards for the baby shower and arguing over baby names!

Furry Friends

Watercolor Illustration by Deidre Wicks

How cute is that little face?! So, this is a fairly random post today, but I have a Red Persian cat that looks exactly like this little cutie, and while some people think they look mean because of their smooshed faces, I just think they're absolutely darling!  So, when I found Deidre Wicks via Pinterest {as you do} and clicked over to her Etsy shop, I knew I was going to have to share her amazing talent with you all!  Everything from squirrels in fedoras to little, French Bulldogs--it's all so cute!  Hop on over to her store here to see more!

Baby Shower Monday: Ribbon Backdrop

Gender Neutral Ribbons

On its way to becoming a pretty, dessert backdrop!

So, this weekend, I tried my hand at this cute, ribbon backdrop courtesy of The Wedding Chicks--they have so many great, DIY guides and printables!  The only thing I couldn't find were the twisty-ties that you need to secure the ribbon to the rod, so I'm going to try one more arts and crafts place tomorrow and if I still can't find them, I think I'll just go with pipe cleaners.  I'm still waiting for the buttons I ordered from this fab, Etsy seller {if you need buttons, she's totally your gal!}, and then I can finish this project off!

Hope you all had a fantastic weekend and are looking forward to a wonderful week ahead!

xoxo,

Jillian Nicole

Friday Favourites

Photography by Tyler Branch via 100 Layer Cake
This week there were two gorgeous weddings vying for my heart {see the other one here}, but after watching the video of Danielle and Linus, I had to choose their sweet, sweet wedding to highlight today.  If you haven't watched their wedding video, make sure to pop on over to 100 Layer Cake and catch up on all the cuteness--these two are totally adorable!

Weekend Thoughts

Sorry, lovelies, no links from me this week!  I've been off the blogging/tweeting grid most of this past week {hoping to catch up on all your wonderful comments and blogs this weekend--cross your fingers for me!}, so hopefully you'll all have fun links I can check out this weekend and catch up on what's happening.  March has been a pretty exciting month so far, and is only getting better. I hate having to be so cryptic with all of you, but things are just at that stage where you can't really share everything, but stuff is definitely in the works and you're just too excited NOT to share, so sorry if you're totally fed up with me!  All will be revealed soon!  Hope you guys have a great weekend and see you back here Monday for a DIY I'll be working on this weekend!

What I {Wish I} Wore Wednesday: Art to Inspiration

It's that time again, Blogettes! Art to Inspiration is back for Round 2, and I have to say, I'm loving the piece of artwork Supal picked out for us:

This gorgeous painting, "Moonlight", is by the fabulous HENSE, and if you wish to find out more about his artwork, please visit his website here.

Blouse // Earrings // Cafe Capri // Pumps // Clutch

Loved the mix of navy, blush, and mustard in the painting--gets me in the mood for Spring! I'd wear this to meet up with HH and friends after work {except that I live in the Arctic, so a huge, puffer jacket is also necessary, however not very attractive, so was excluded from post}

Love this series? Contact Supal here and get on board for next month!

At Home with Rifle Paper Co.

{All Images Via Villa Nova}

So, I may be the last one to know about this, but I just could not believe it when I read on Love Creative that Rifle Paper Co. and Villa Nova Fabrics teamed up to bring Rifle's amazing designs to life!  I'm ready to upholster our whole house in these gorgeous fabrics, but HH says maybe just a few throw pillows--I'll take what I can get!

What do you think, lovelies? Too bright or just right?:)

Baby Shower Monday: Invitations

Invitations by Swanky Press
Okay, so remember a couple weeks ago, when I told you my Sister-in-Law is pregnant and I'm throwing her a Baby Shower? Well, these are the invitations I decided on!  We're going with "Cute as a Button" for the theme and of course a little chevron had to sneak its way in there somehow!  And, if it's okay with you guys, for the next month or so, I think Monday's will be Baby Shower day! I'll keep you updated on what latest DIY project is scattered across our living room floor and maybe even throw in a couple pictures!  Hope you all had a fun weekend and are having a great Monday {oxymoron much?} so far!:)

xoxo,

Jillian Nicole

Poppy in Pearls: New, Online Wedding Boutique

Good morning, Blogettes!  If you're a Bride-to-Be in the UK, you're going to want to get comfy because boy, do I have a fun interview for you! Sarah from the blog Poppy in Pearls has just officially launched her online wedding boutique and is over here today sharing a little bit about her favourite buys for creative brides!

Hi Sarah! I'm so glad you could join us on Mimi Nicole today!  Can you tell us a little bit about how you got started with the boutique?

Hi folks, my name is Sarah. Two years ago I was leading a very busy life in London working as
a commissioning Picture Editor for a well-known travel guide publisher and planning my own
wedding. One wedding, a six-month honeymoon and a move to the countryside later and here I am
in Bath, launching an online wedding boutique!

Poppy in Pearls is an online wedding boutique selling British made buys for creative brides. I've
scoured the UK to find beautiful invitations, jewellery, amazing hair accessories, gifts for your
bridesmaids and groom and even anniversary gifts and put them in one lovely site for you to browse and shop.

What made you want to start an online boutique for UK brides?

My dream is to have a physical shop but for the time being the online boutique is keeping me occupied. After planning my own big day, I just found the quirky handmade pieces were difficult
to find, especially when you are buying that last minute item in your lunch break at work. I want
to make it easy for brides to be, as well as their mums, sisters, friends and grooms to find those
independent makers creating beautiful unique pieces for their wedding day, here in the UK.

Any goals for Poppy in Pearls this first year?

Just to meet as many brides to be as possible and hope they find in Poppy in Pearls a little piece of inspiration and joy.

What's on offer at Poppy in Pearls?

Ultimately everything apart from the dress. From invitations, room décor, jewellery, hair accessories, veils and gifts to thank you cards. I also offer an intimate service. I want people to feel they can easily enquire about the paper pom they’ve seen on the website to know exactly what shade of blue it is or exactly how long the lace pendant is.

Describe your ideal wedding and what you would pull from Poppy in Pearls:

My own wedding was less than 18 months ago so I’m not quite ready to dream up a different
version.  Ours was a very relaxed affair in a converted barn with the majority of wedding guests
staying on site--which was a big plus for us. If I had our wedding again now, I’d be filling the
barn with gorgeous giant paper poms, wearing this vintage hair comb in my up do, buying a necklace for each of my bridesmaids to match their dresses.  I'd decorate the table top with these fabulous stars and gift my hubby this print.

What advice do you have for those women who are planning their big day and trying to make it uniquely theirs?

I think you want your day, ultimately, to be a reflection of you as a couple. My motto is ban the word ‘should’. Your day is about you and your partner, there’s a million and one things that brides and grooms feel they ‘should’ do but ultimately it is your day and you should do what you want to do. When we were planning our day we picked five words we wanted to reflect our wedding day, each time we were about to book or pay for something we checked to see if it fit with our original hopes for the day. It helped us keep on track and not get too carried away with what people told us we ‘should’ do!

Just for Fun:

Favourite bouquet mixture?
I had Lisianthus, Lily and Roses on my big day and loved it. I’m also a huge fan of Anemones and
Dahlias.

Are you a cryer at weddings?
My friends tease me for my obsession with weddings and yep I always cry. I just love the romance
of it all, the excitement and nerves of the groom as he wait for his future wife, that moment
when the bride walks down in her dress that she loves and hopes her man will love it just as much! The vows and promises they make to each other, I just love it all; I’m a wedding junkie!

Favourite piece from your new store?
I love the exclusive invitation suites we have launching in March, but my favourite thing at the
moment would be this hair comb. I wore my hair up on my wedding day and loved it, so maybe this would encourage me to wear my hair up more?

***

Thanks so much for hanging out with us today, Sarah!

If any of you lovely British Brides are looking for UK sourced decorations, gifts, or favours then make sure to head on over to Poppy in Pearls and check out all that this darling, online shop has to offer!:)

Jillian Nicole
