our {anniversary} weekend

definitley not one of the most impressive castles, but i might be a little jaded
we had a lovely picnic in the walled gardens before the clouds rolled in
scotland can't help but be a little gloomy...it's part of its charm
i just love a good trellis...i'm thinking our vow renewal will definitely feature one
there's nothing as gorgeous as the scottish countryside
we drove by this darling home on our way back to edinburgh and i just had to snap a photo. one day i want to live in a little cottage just like this one

We had such a wonderful weekend full of delicious food + tons of reminiscing. It's so fun to think back over our time together so far and, since I married a nostalgic, we spent a lot of time on Saturday talking about how much we've grown and learned about marriage and about one another.  I love being married.  I can't wait to see where we end up for our next anniversary.
maybe somewhere warm + sunny

what did you guys get up to this weekend?

Emily Joanna

Our niece, Emily Joanna, was born this past Tuesday...8lbs. + 6oz. and already a heart breaker!

How cute are those chubby, baby cheeks!? I just want to kiss them all over!:)

Mommy, Daddy, and Baby Emily are all perfect and we can't wait to meet her {and spoil her rotten!}!

Welcome to the world, Emily! We love you!

London Town

Tower Bridge
Parliament + Big Ben
London Eye + crazy, London crowds
Pony
The National Gallery
Amazing Architecture
Sun setting over St. Paul's Cathedral
We're Back!

It's so nice to be home after our crazy, eight-hour drive from London to Scotland {it still makes me chuckle that in 8 hours you can get from one end of the country to the other!}! The wedding on Saturday was beautiful and the Bride was just stunning...I took a few photos, but they were so dark and blurry {which is why I am most definitely not a photographer!}, so you'll just have to wait for lovely, ChloĆ©'s photos!

On Monday we spent the day visiting our old stomping grounds {pictures above} and later in the day met up with the super sweet, Tarah Coonan who snapped a few photos of us for our Anniversary!

But that's enough about me...what you have guys been up to??? Anyone looking forward to the Olympics?
Diving + tennis are two of my favorites, but I also love to watch the sprinters--they're so fast!!!

Who will you be cheering on this year???

Something Pretty Feature + Weekend Plans

{via}
Yesterday the very lovely, Lisa over at Something Pretty featured my Ivy + Aster Wedding Dress in her Dress Envy post.  Each week she's taking a look at her favorite bloggers and how they chose their wedding dresses--fun series, huh?! Last week, Tamra from Ever Swoon shared about her gorgeous, Oscar de la Renta and this week I shared all about my polka dotted, Ivy + Aster...check them out here and here!

This weekend is chock full of packing + finishing up a few projects because next week I leave for a wedding in London Town! It has been such a joy and privilege to work with Megan and Joe on their rustic {but elegant!}, pub wedding and I can't wait to see everything come together!:) Plus, I get to work with a few of my favorite people in the industry, so it's set to be an amazing few days!

We've also had a few sunny days in Scotland {thank you for finally noticing it's July, Scotland!}, so Handsome Husband and I are breaking out the picnic basket tomorrow and venturing out of doors, so look out for a few picnic pictures next week {not quite as elaborate as the one above!}!

Any fun plans this weekend, lovelies???

maxis

top row :: 1 // 2 // 3
bottom row :: 1// 2 // 3
i still can't decide how i feel about maxi dresses.  i love how they look on other people, but i haven't taken the plunge yet myself.  these are my top six favorites.  the j.crew ones are all on sale, which is a definite plus{!}, but i'm still hemming and hawing over here. i think my biggest worry is that they're going to make me look preggers.  which, if you're pregnant, is awesome, but if you're not, well, then it's not really a compliment...at all :)

have you had maxi dress success? any tips on how to wear them?

the fourth of july

Ink Plus Paper
  my husband is english...i'm american...the 4th of july is a funny day around our house. i've thought of all the ways i could rub it in his face today, most of which just end with me jumping up and down on the couch singing, "we won, we won, nan er nan er nah nah!", but what i've learned in my less-than-one-year-of-marriage is that it rarely works out when you let your pride take over--no matter how small/silly an issue. hubby and i have been talking a lot about unity in marriage lately.  how fun it is to feel that you're part of this special, little, two-person team. it really is the coolest thing to know that someone has my back 100% and even cooler to know that i get to have his 100%. it's me + him against the world. i love america {and so does he for the record!} and we can't wait until we call it home again, but for right now i'm cool with drinking tea and having people ask me to repeat words ninety-seven thousand times.

because home really is wherever i'm with him.

p.s. happy fourth of july my lovely, fellow 'muricans! please eat a hot dog + a slice of apple pie for me!:)

Monday, July 2, 2012

When I spied this on Pinterest, I just knew I had to share it with you guys! I was never a huge tea drinker until I started dating my Husband {who, by the way, drinks it likes it's going out of style!}, but now I'm convinced that this old, British adage is true: tea really does solve everything!

Next time you're in a funk, have a cup of tea and tell me it doesn't take the edge off just a tiny bit!:)

Hope your Monday is a cozy one!
